Medical Camp for the poor and senior citizens on 22nd and 23rd September 2012

The price of healthcare in India is disconcerting. Nearly 93% of the poor who are hospitalized have to sell their assets, including the family’s land – their primary income source. The status of health care in the country is alarming. Although, the life expectancy has increased, we are faced with the return of major infectious diseases like malaria, and tuberculosis, the non-communicable chronic disease like cancer, mental disorders, circulatory diseases, bronchitis, asthama and other heart diseases are on the rise.

Jagrut organized a free medical camp for the poor and senior citizens at Subhash Road Ganpati Mandal, Vile Parle (E), on 22nd and 23rd September 2012. Tests like blood pressure, diabetes, eye testing, blood group, ENT check up and vacuum therapy were offered. Free spectacles and hearing aids were given to the needy.
